Riviera Aeronautics offers professional flight training in accordance with RA-Aus syllabus.

Initial training begins with a Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) where you are given a simple pre-flight briefing before taking to the air with your instructor in a Technam P92 Echo Super, equipped with state of the art avionics.  You take the controls once at altitude and carry out some basic maneuvers to get the feel of actually flying the the aircraft.

You will gain an understanding of what the engine, ailerons, rudder, elevator and flaps do and how each also influences the other.

If you decide that you wish to continue with lessons, the time you spent on your TIF counts towards your pilot certificate.

From there your training will progress and you will be on your way to your first solo flight and subsequently gaining your pilot's licence.

The minimum time to gain your Recreational Aviation Pilot Certificate is 20 hours including a minimum of 5 hours solo.  You can then proceed to achieve your Passenger Carriage endorsement and Cross Country (Navigation) endorsement.

There are also a number of examinations that need to be passed

  • Pre-Solo Air Legislation
  • Flight Radio Endorsement
  • Pre-Certificate Air legislation
  • Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK)
  • Human Factors, and if you wish to gain the Cross Country endorsement
  • Navigation and Meteorology

We have the relevant training manuals available to purchase, which are writtn by Jan and Val Dyson-Holland.
